Successful Unwind Tension Control Upgrade
Sareltech recently completed a very successful unwind tension control upgrade at one of our customers.
The laminator had very outdated system and erratic pneumatic tension control and we were asked by the customer to quote on a replacement system.
We decided to replace the old system with a modern turnkey solution and it turned out perfectly.
The 2 sets of unwinds were fitted with a pair of load cells as tension feedback. We used state of the art magnetic powder brakes as they provide a very smooth and accurate tension on various materials and are maintenance free. The closed loop PID control was done using an off the shelf Digital Controller that allows the operator to set the desired tension set point and read the actual tension in kg tension on the production material.
We have done several projects of this kind using the same controllers and brakes but used either load cells or a dancer as feedback sensors.
This solution is very reliable, accurate , maintenance free and easy to operate. We have fitted these systems to Business form machines, Extruder Laminators, Laminators and Label Presses.
The exciting prospect is that BST International will soon supply these same components under their brand name.
